Hello, I’m Jaclyn! I’m a lover of the outdoors and our planet earth, a lover of problem solving and puzzles, and a passionate change leader always ready to dive in head first and improve processes, culture, and habits.
I’ve loved nature and the outdoors ever since I can remember. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest of the United States where my backyard was a greenbelt that was home to adventures galore. We had a huge tall dead tree that doubled as a perch for Bald Eagles eating their freshly caught lake fish for dinner on occasion, which I definitely didn’t appreciate nearly enough as a kid.
I’ve been a climate advocate since I was young. In high school, my friends and I were part of the Earthsave club and we advocated for, and succeeded in installing recycling stations in our high school cafeteria and raising awareness about proper disposal methods. Even those little steps of getting my peers to consider our waste, and how a few extra seconds to sort made a difference, were wins. My high school basketball team had the motto of Little Things, representing the continuous journey to work hard, improve, and continue striving for better, and I’m channeling that sentiment here, making little swaps for good.
Now, as a mom to 3 kids, we’re working on how we can continually improve our carbon footprint, all while trying to battle the greenwashing, and false and conflicting information out there.
This isn’t a straight line, there is not ONE single path or answer, but we have to keep pushing ourselves to do the best we can with every step. We will continue to get better, to reinvent, to evolve and grow, and to share and learn. We have to have a growth mindset and be willing to be wrong. We can do this together. We can make an impact with the little things, for good. Let’s do this!!!
